The Coalition for the Advancement of Research and Innovation in Trauma (CARIT) aims to establish innovation in trauma treatment, harness concepts and discoveries from multidisciplinary scientific fields and ensure that these innovations are brought to bear on physical trauma, emergency, and pre-hospital care.
Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death in Americans under the age of 45. Despite this chilling statistic, trauma research has been historically underfunded. As a result, innovation in trauma care has failed to keep pace with other health conditions.
